How do automatic sachet filling and sealing machines work?

Whether you're new to packaging machinery or are considering adding pre-made pouch packaging to your product line, you may be interested in how automatic sachet filling and sealing machines operate. That's because these machines are simple to operate, easy to use, and offer superior aesthetics in the finished product.

Today, we'll take a step-by-step look at the process of turning an empty pre-made pouch into a shelf-ready finished product.

● Pre-made bags conveying

Pre-made bags are manually loaded by the operator into the bag magazine in front of the automatic bag packer. Bags are conveyed to the machine by the bag feed rollers.

● Bag Clamping

When a proximity sensor detects a bag, the vacuum bag loader picks up the bag and transfers it to a set of grippers that will grab the bag as it moves around the rotary wrapper to a different "station".

These grippers can consistently support weights of up to 10 kg on the best bag filling and sealing machine models. For heavier bags, a continuous bag support can be added.

● Optional printing/embossing

Sachet fill and seal machines are available with thermal and inkjet printers. The printer can place the desired date/lot code on the pouch. Embossing option places raised date/lot codes into the pouch seal.

● Zipper or bag opening and detection

If the bag has a zipper to re-close, the vacuum suction cup opens the lower portion of the pre-made bag and the opening jaws grab the top of the bag. The opening jaws part outward to open the top of the bag and the pre-made bag is inflated by the blower. If the bag is unzipped, the vacuum suction cup will still open the bottom of the bag, but only the blower is engaged.

There are two sensors near the bottom of the bag to detect its presence. If no bag is detected, the filling and sealing station will not engage. If a bag is present but not properly placed, the bag will not be filled and sealed, but will stay on the rotating device until the next cycle.

● Bagging

For powder products, use a screw filler. In the case of liquid bag fillers, the product is pumped into the bag by a liquid filler with a nozzle. The filling equipment is responsible for the correct measurement and release of the discrete amount of product to be placed in each pre-made bag.

● Bag sealing and deflation

Before sealing occurs, two bleeder assemblies squeeze the remaining air out of the bag.

The heat seal closes at the top of the bag. Using heat, pressure, and time, the sealant layers of the preformed bags are bonded together to form a strong seam.

● Cooling and Discharge

The cooling bar is passed through the seal to strengthen and level it. The finished bag is then discharged from the packaging machine onto a container or conveyor and can be transported to down-line equipment such as checkweighers, x-ray machines, case packing or carton packaging equipment.

Why you can't directly measure the torque output of a capping machine?

As you might expect, we discuss torque with our customers every day. People certainly have a lot of questions about how to measure torque. They want to make sure that the proper torque is applied to the cap. So naturally, many people who are new to caps want to find a way to directly measure the torque output of their capping machine. The ideas they usually try are logical and well thought out, but unfortunately, they can lead to inaccurate results. Our purpose here is to explain why.   Many people understandably assume that if they put a bottle into a cap torque tester and then tighten the cap with a capper, the tester will tell them what torque the capper just applied to the cap. Unfortunately, this is not the case. If the cap is screwed onto the container very slowly, the cap torque tester will only measure the torque applied to the cap.  A capping machine  can tighten caps very quickly. The sampling rate (how often the cap torque tester reads the torque output) of the...

How Do I Know When a Process Should Be Automated?

Automation can improve the efficiency, safety, accuracy and speed of a process, but it also requires careful planning. There are many factors to consider and it can be difficult to know when a process should be automated. If you are wondering about automating a process at your processing plant, manufacturing plant, or another facility, consider the following. How to Know When a Process Should be Automated 1. Current Process Time vs. Projected Process Time Time is one of the most important factors to consider when deciding whether a process should be automated or not. A machine will perform most simple and repetitive processes faster than a person can. However, it is not only the individual process itself that should be considered, but the surrounding processes as well. 2. Accuracy Requirements Accuracy is another important factor to consider when a process should be automated. If machines are installed, maintained and programmed correctly, they will perform the same task, the same way,...

How Does the Powder Filling and Sealing Machine Work?

Today, we will delve into the process of packaging powder products into pre-made bags using a pouch filling and sealing machine. The  Powder Packing Machine  mainly accomplishes two things: distributing the product into prefabricated bags, and then sealing the bags. There are two main designs of this machine type: rotary and in-line. The difference between the two lies in the machine layout.                   Powder Packing Machine The rotary bag packaging machine is arranged in a circular pattern, which means that the starting point of the packaging process is right next to the end point. This creates a better ergonomic setting for the operator and requires a minimal footprint. Since they are very popular in powder packaging, we will only take a closer look at the rotary design in this article. The rotary bag filling and sealing machine can be equipped with one-bag, two-bag or four-bag feeding "channels", among which the simplex (s...
